About Sarah Anne
Birthday: 8/1/59 | Member of Donovan’s Family
Sarah Anne is the oldest chimpanzee living at Chimp Haven. Though she was born in the wild, she has spent the majority of her years in captivity. She was taken from her mother as an infant and brought to the United States for research purposes. Sarah Anne is best known for her role in one of the earliest nonhuman-ape language acquisition studies in which she learned to communicate through the use of symbolic tokens which earned Sarah her very own Wikipedia page. Today, Sarah Anne spends her days wrapped in blankets, watched over by her BFF Marie, and observing her surroundings from the tops of play structures.
