Natalie's Update

Summer has arrived at the sanctuary, and the chimps are loving the beautiful weather in sunny Louisiana!

Your best friend Natalie has been doing great! She’s a big fan of snacks, and springtime brings plenty of fresh, in-season fruits and veggies, her favorite. You never have to lure or convince Natalie to come over at produce time. Even though she’s one of the younger girls, she’s always front and center, ready to catch as many tasty treats as she can.

We’re not sure where she puts it all, but she’s always down for a snack. Natalie is also very vocal during food tosses – she’s constantly asking for more. Even if you don’t see her, you’ll definitely hear her clapping. She may be small, but she has a huge presence. You can even hear her from a different habitat! Truly a big personality packed into a little body.

Lately, Natalie has been spending a lot of time with her friend Val’s mom, Flora. Flora is the “cool mom” of the group – the one who hangs out with all the youngsters. She and Natalie have been grooming each other, snuggling in nests and hammocks, and just relaxing together.

It’s been really special to watch Flora take a motherly interest in Natalie, while still staying close to her own daughter, Valentina Rose.
