Admission for Chimpanzee Discovery Day is:

• $10 for ages 6 and older
• FREE for ages 5 and younger

Tickets may be pre-purchased online (via the top right of this page) until 3 p.m. the day before the event, or purchased in person at the admissions gate.

As part of Chimpanzee Discovery Days, Chimp Haven offers several “hay-ride” style behind-the-scenes tours. These tours take place at 9:45 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and 11:15 a.m. Space for these tours is limited and tickets are sold on a first come, first served basis. Behind the scenes tours are $10 per person. Tickets for the 9:45 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. tours may be purchased along with Chimpanzee Discovery Day tickets online (via the top right of this page). Tickets for the 11:15 a.m. tour are sold only at the admissions gate.

• The best time to see chimpanzees is 9 – 10 a.m. Habitat releases occur at 9:15, 9:30, and 9:45 a.m. During these releases guests will see the chimp families venture down to the moat and explore their forested habitats.
• The event is outdoors with limited covered areas; comfortable shoes are recommended.
• Free parking is available, but may require a short walk to the entrance.
• Chimp Haven merchandise is available for purchase using cash or credit card.
• Refreshments are available for purchase.
• Porta potties and handwashing stations are available.
• Most events occur rain or shine, but in the case of inclement weather, cancellations will be posted on our website and Facebook page. If the event must be cancelled because of inclement weather, ticket holders will be provided with tickets to a future or rescheduled event. Refunds are not available for Chimpanzee Discovery Days.

We’re so glad you’re planning a visit to the sanctuary! While on the grounds, please know that visitors may be photographed or recorded on video by Chimp Haven photographers and videographers, and that these images and likeness therein may be used for the purpose of promoting Chimp Haven. You may choose to opt out by informing the photographer.

Photography Policy

Chimp Haven welcomes and encourages visitors to take photographs for personal use and to share their experience at the sanctuary with friends and family. We would love for you to tag us on social media @ChimpHaven or using the hashtags #ChimpLife and #ChimpHaven. Commercial photography and filming at the sanctuary is prohibited without prior permission from Chimp Haven. Chimp Haven strives to provide a memorable and educational experience for every visitor. All public areas of the sanctuary are accessible. Given that Chimpanzee Discovery Days and other public events take place outdoors, please be aware that our parking lot and walkways may be muddy in the event of rain.

Private events like Chimp Chat & Chew are also wheelchair accessible. If mobility issues prevent someone in your party from standing for short periods during the tour, please let us know at the time of booking so we can ensure the experience is planned appropriately for your group.

Chimpanzee Discovery Day events typically occur rain or shine. If the event must be cancelled because of inclement weather, ticket holders will be provided with tickets to a future or rescheduled event. Refunds are not available for Chimpanzee Discovery Days.
