Chimp Life Photography Experience

Join us for a one-of-a-kind photography experience at Chimp Haven’s beautiful 200-acre sanctuary!

This experience, led by Chimp Haven’s resident photographer, is open to professional and amateur photographers interested in photographing the chimps.

Registration Includes

  • A private tour of the sanctuary
  • Special opportunity to view and photograph the chimps in their forested habitats and open-air corrals
  • Tips and tricks for shooting the chimps from Chimp Haven’s photographer, Karalee Scouten
  • Private access to the Chimp Haven merch store

Event Details

Registration for this 3-hour experience is capped at six attendees to ensure the best photography experience. Attendees are responsible for bringing their own photography equipment. All travel arrangements and transportation to and from the sanctuary are the responsibility of the attendee. Chimp Haven is happy to provide recommendations for lodging, dining, and things to do during your visit. If inclement weather causes your event to be cancelled, we will reschedule your experience for the following day.

About Karalee Scouten

Karalee Scouten is a photographer based in Shreveport, LA. She is currently the Marketing and Design Specialist at Chimp Haven in Keithville, LA where she leads production of Chimp Haven’s visual content.

Her career in photography began as a hobby in college at Northwestern State University where she photographed her collection of American Girl dolls, friends, theatre and dance productions, and picturesque Natchitoches. Karalee’s professional career took off in college when she gained a following via her American Girl photography Instagram, served as chief photographer for the Potpourri yearbook and interned with Northwestern State’s department of Marketing and Branding.

After obtaining her B.A. in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Fine Arts, Karalee worked as the Assistant Director of Marketing and Branding for Northwestern State University where she focused on photography and videography for social media, commercials, and print advertisements. Karalee earned her Masters of Art in Integrated Marketing from St. Bonaventure University.

When Karalee is not photographing chimps, she maintains her social media presence within the American Girl Instagram community. What started as a hobby in 2011 has grown into partnerships with international brands including American Girl and A Girl for All Time. She has been published by American Girl in both print and online.
