With Valentine’s Day coming up, we’re celebrating ALL the love here at the sanctuary. One of the most wonderful things about life at Chimp Haven is watching new friendships, families, bromances, and, yes, even romances, develop between the retirees. We’re excited to share a few of those love stories here with you the next two weeks!
Today’s love story continues our theme of strong females bringing out newfound confidence in their pals and love interests (sometimes a little too much!).
Murphy used to be described as “Mr. Professor” – a very chill gentleman who never started trouble. That is until he met Ariah, a feisty, bright girl with a flair for the dramatic.
These two hit it off big time and are always together – playing, cuddling up in the cupola with a blanket, grooming out in their play yard, hanging out during food toss.
Murphy does absolutely anything for Ariah, and their relationship has made him more assertive – he sticks up for himself and never misses an opportunity to show her how tough he is. These days he might be considered less “Mr. Professor” and more “leader of a biker gang.”
While opinions are divided on whether or not Ariah is a good influence on Murphy, for now, they’re the group’s Bonnie and Clyde. They’re dedicated to each other, and Murphy is smitten. Where you find one, you’ll find the other (possibly stirring up some trouble).
