With Valentine’s Day coming up, we’re celebrating ALL the love here at the sanctuary. One of the most wonderful things about life at Chimp Haven is watching new friendships, families, bromances, and, yes, even romances, develop between the retirees. We’re excited to share a few of those love stories here with you this week!
Randy is a big, cuddly teddy bear who was part of a small bachelor social group at Chimp Haven. Rero was part of a larger group of 10. When their two groups were introduced to each other recently, a bromance for the ages was formed.
“These two boys were just what the other one needed,” shared Caregiver Miranda. “They complete each other.”
Randy loves to eat and loves to be outside. But Rero? He takes his time to leave his bedroom for breakfast in the morning.
“Their bond is so strong that Randy will actually forego his breakfast and go back inside to sit with Rero until he’s feeling ready,” Miranda shared. “It’s so funny.”
They groom. They play. They take their enrichment together. There’s just not much they do without each other anymore.
“Before they met each other, Rero always took his time to come out of his bedroom in the morning, but now that Randy’s here, he’s got a friend who comes back and helps him out.”
Excuse us while we find a tissue — so sweet!
